:SYSTem Setup Commands

Command Syntax

:SYSTem:DSP  <message_string>

<message_string> is a string.

Query Syntax

:SYSTem:DSP?

Description

Writes a string to the message line on Infiniium's display.

Unless the message area is docked (see :DISPlay:MDISplay:DOCK), messages are removed from the display in approximately 10 seconds.

The maximum string length that you can send is 255 characters. Strings over 108 characters are truncated when displayed in the message line even though any undisplayed characters remain in the message queue.

To clear the displayed message, send the empty string (that is, "").

Sending the query form of this command returns the last string written to Infiniium and empties the message queue.

Strings over 255 characters long result in the following advisory message: "−223, Too much data; Maximum of 255 character(s) exceeded".
