Command Syntax

:TRIGger:SOURce  {FRUN | FPANel | CHANnelN | SLOT{1:4}}

Where N identifies a specific channel and must be selected from {1:8}{A|B|C|D}. For example, CHANnel3C.

Query Syntax

:TRIGger:SOURce?

Description

Selects the trigger input for the 86100D and DCA-M products like the N1090A and N1090A/B/D optical sampling oscilloscopes. The following sources can be selected:

FRUN
Free Run. Triggers the data acquisition as soon as the trigger is armed, without having to provide an external trigger. Free run is asynchronous to the data. Use free-run triggering as an easy way to examine the amplitude of a signal without any timing information.
FPANel (default setting)
Front Panel. Triggers the data acquisition from an external trigger source that is connected to the front-panel Trigger input. This is the most often-used method (as well as the default) source for triggering. Use the :TRIGger:LEVel command to set the trigger level, when the trigger bandwidth (:TRIGger:MODE) is set to FILTered or EDGe.
CHANnel{N}
Channel. Trigger from a channel. This selection is not available for DCA-M products.
SLOT{1:4}
Module Slot. Trigger from a plug-in module slot location (1 through 4). Compatible modules (that have front-panel trigger input connectors) include 86108A (always SLOT1) and 8349x-series (SLOT1 or SLOT3). When an 86108A precision waveform analyzer module is installed, triggering can be from the recovered clock or from the precision timebase. When using the 86107A Precision Timebase module and the time reference is set, all external trigger sources and controls are disabled. This selection is not available for DCA-M products.
