86100D Standard Trigger Specifications (Option STR)
Instrument:
86100D
These specifications are for Option STR which is the standard, default trigger.
Specifications describe warranted performance. Characteristics provide useful, nonwarranted information about the functions and performance of the instrument. Characteristics are printed in green italics.
Item | Description |
---|---|
Module Triggering | Not Supported |
Maximum Trigger Signal | 2 Vpp |
Trigger Modes | |
Internal Trigger | Freerun Freerun trigger mode internally generates an asynchronous trigger that allows viewing the sampled signal amplitude without an external trigger signal but provides no timing information. Freerun is useful in troubleshooting external trigger problems. |
External Direct Trigger (DC coupled) |
The sampled input signal timing is recreated by using an externally supplied trigger signal that is synchronous with the sampled signal input. Limited Bandwidth: DC to 100 MHz. The DC to 100 MHz mode is used to minimize the effect of high frequency signals or noise on a low frequency trigger signal. Full Bandwidth: DC to 3.2 GHz |
External Divided Trigger | Not available |
Pattern Lock | Not available |
System Jitter | Tested at 2.5 GHz, 200 mVpp |
1.5 ps rms + 50 ppm of delay setting | |
<1.0 ps rms + 5 ppm of delay setting (characteristic) | |
Trigger Sensitivity | Sinusoidal or 200 ps minimum pulse width. 200 mVpp |
Trigger Configuration | |
Triggering Level Adjustment | –1V to +1V |
Edge Select | Positive or negative |
Hysteresis | Normal or high sensitivity High Sensitivity Hysteresis mode improves the high frequency trigger sensitivity but is not recommended when using noisy, low frequency signals that may result in false triggers without normal hysteresis enabled. |
Trigger Gating 1 | |
Gating Input Levels (TTL compatible) | Disable: 0 to 0.6V Enable: 3.5 to 5V Pulse width > 500 ns, period > 1μs |
Gating Delay | Disable: 27 μs + trigger period + maximum time displayed
Enable: 100 ns |
Trigger Input | |
Nominal Impedance | 50Ω |
Nominal Impedance (Option PTB Precision Timebase Input) | 50Ω |
Reflection | 10% for 100 ps rise time |
Connector Type | 2.92 mm (male). Serial Prefix MY5415 and Above 3.5 mm (male). Serial Prefix below MY5415 Option PTB: PTB input: 2.92 mm (male) |
Footnotes: | |
1. Gated triggering is only available from the 86100D's legacy GUI as explained in Gated Triggering in the user's guide. |
