Q Result
Meas. mode:
Jitter
Waveform type:
PAM4
The Jitter mode Q factor is a ratio of the signal level to the random noise of the signal. It is derived from the one and zero level and RN measurements.
For optical signals, Q is defined as:
For electrical signals, Q is defined as:
The instrument's internal noise contributes to the noise level that is used to determine Q and can result in measurement inaccuracy. This occurs whenever the signal noise approaches the level of the instrument's internal noise.
