:CHANnel:PROBe:VTMode

Command Syntax

:CHANnelN:PROBe:VTMode {OFF | INTernal}

Where N identifies a specific channel in the form "<connection1-8>_<ch1-8>". With connection 1, the connection number part (that is, "1_") is optional, and you can simply use the channel number "<ch1-8>". For example, connection 4 channel 2 is CHANnel4_2.

Query Syntax

:CHANnelN:PROBe:VTMode?

Description

Specifies OFF or INTernal voltage termination mode for the following probes:

  • The N5444A probe head.
  • The N7010A active termination adapter, regardless of the attachment/head.
  • The MX0020A/21A/22A/24A/25A probe amplifiers.

Some technologies such as HDMI require a non-ground termination voltage, and it is best to measure those signals with a probe that is also terminated with the same voltage. This is called voltage termination mode or V-Term mode.

In some cases, as with differential SMA probe heads that have a V-Term input, the V-Term input can be physically grounded with a shunt, left floating, or connected to the DUT's termination voltage, and there is no need for software control.

However, some probes let you control the V-Term voltage internally, and the voltage termination mode control is necessary.

When the INTernal mode is selected, you specify the internal voltage termination value using the :CHANnel:PROBe:VTValue command.
