Command Syntax

:JSOurce:RATE <symbol rate>

Where <symbol rate> is a double.

Query Syntax

:JSOurce:RATE?

Description

Sets the Clock Rate of the FlexPLL source instrument's output waveform.

81160A Source

If an 81160A Source is used, the output is a square wave. If the DUT expects a data input, set Source's Clock Rate to half the data rate. For example, if the DUT's data input should be 200 MHz, set the 81160A clock output is 100 MHz. With two symbols per clock cycle (one and zero), the equivalent data rate is double the clock frequency.

M8000-Series Source

Clock Output

If an M8000-series Source is used with the output set to a CLOCk (:JSOurce:WTYPe command), enter the Source's output Clock Rate to your DUT in Hz. FlexPLL forces the M8000-series Source's Clock Rate to be an integer sub-rate of the System Clock Rate setting (:JSOurce:SCRate command). These two commands are related in that an M8000-series Source's output clock is created by a sequence of 0s and 1s from the BERT's internal pattern generator. For example, if the System Clock Rate is 10 GHz and the Clock Rate is 2.5 GHz, the clock signal is build from a repeated 0011 bit stream played at 10 GHz.

Data Output

If an M8000-series Source is used with the output set to a DATA (:JSOurce:WTYPe command), use the:JSOurce:PATTern command to select the Pattern and Symbol Rate instead of using the :JSOurce:RATE command.

Example Command

:JSOurce:RATE 1.0E+8
