Command Syntax

:SYSTem:AUToscale

Description

Performs an Auto Scale. There is no query form of this command. If the Auto Scale is unsuccessful, one or more errors are placed in the last-in first-out error-message buffer. Use the :SYSTem:ERRor:NEXT? and :SYSTem:ERRor:COUNT? queries to determine if an error has occured and the cause of any errors. The following errors can be reported:

  • 143, "Instrument Error;Autoscale: No valid sources are turned on."
  • 144, "Instrument Error;Autoscale: Could not detect data rate."
  • 144, "Instrument Error;Autoscale: Unable to detect reference clock frequency."

Before using Auto Scale, turn on at least one channel and ensure a valid signal and trigger source is connected. During an Auto Scale, the following tasks are performed:

  • Scales the waveform vertically and horizontally for all the input channels that are turned on.
  • Adjusts the trigger level in Oscilloscope, Eye/Mask, or Jitter Mode.
  • Sets trigger bandwidth.
  • Sets the horizontal scale and position of the lowest numbered channel turned on.
  • If multiple eye diagrams are displayed software delay is used to align the eye diagrams. However, the following conditions must be true:

To autoscale only the vertical or only the horizontal axis, use the :SYSTem:AUToscale:VERTical or :SYSTem:AUToscale:HORizontal child commands.

When the FlexDCA is in Run mode, follow the AUToscale command with a *OPC? query to pause program execution until the Auto Scale completes.
