N7820A Required Test Equipment

This section lists the test equipment needed to run performance tests, adjustments, and utilities. Any critical specification requirements are noted, as well as recommended model numbers. Refer to each individual test for specific setup configurations with required cables and adapters. The computer and all test equipment are connected to the DUT using GPIB. All test equipment is Keysight (previously Hewlett-Packard and Agilent) unless otherwise noted.

In all test equipment configurations, cables and adapters must be properly torqued. Exceeding recommended torque values can cause damage to a cable or adapter, and can cause inaccurate test results.

  • All test equipment requires a 30 minute warmup period to ensure accurate performance.

  • Models for each Test Equipment category are given in order of preference. Alternate or substitute models are listed after the preferred model, but should be considered as a lower priority.

  • The "Normal" variant is no longer applicable for the Performance Verification Test Plan. The "Factory Recommended" variant now supports both the 8902A/8903B for the measuring receiver tests previously supported in the Normal variant and the PXA N9030B with Analog Demodulation application for all measuring-receiver tests. (See table below for specific requirements.) The PXA N9030B is the preferred solution. The Performance Verification Test Plan for the E8257N only supports PXA N9030B.

  • The E8257N requires the use of a 2.4 mm (male) Aeroflex Weinschel Crown (part number 7005A-13) for use with all Performance Verification Tests, Adjustments, and Utilities.

  • The E8267D Option HFA uses the same Test Equipment as the E8267D Option 520.

  • E8257D or E8267D Option H44 uses the same Test Equipment as the E8257D Option 550 or E8267D Option 544.

  • E8267D or E8257D Option 513 uses the same Test Equipment as the E8267D or E8257D Option 520.

N9030A analog demodulation application option requirements

To use the PXA N9030A with N9063EM0E analog demodulation measurement application functionality above 3.5 GHz or for modulation rates above 50 kHz, the N9030A must be upgraded with one of the following upgrade options: MTU or TES. After either upgrade, the N9030A must be re-calibrated for analog demodulation specifications above 3.5 GHz to be valid.

Choose from one of the following options:

  1. Option MTU — Multi-Touch User Interface

  2. Option TES — TOI Enhanced Specifications

Guidelines for Ordering Power-Sensor Calibration Service

  1. Order Option 1A7 when ordering new power sensors that will be used as working standards in N78xxxB ETMS calibrations.

  2. When ordering periodic calibration for instruments used as lab standards in N78xxxB ETMS software, we recommend using “Keysight Cal + Uncertainties + Guardbanding”. More information can be found at http://www.keysight.com/find/americas_cal.

  3. The N7800A software incorporates the ISO GUM Uncertainty in point-to-point uncertainty calculations. The special “H-series” calibration options (shown on the Special Calibrations Matrix located at http://cal.software.keysight.com) provide lower measurement uncertainties through use of direct comparison to devices directly characterized by NPL or NIST (or another NMI). The overall resulting N78xxxB measurement uncertainties then reflects these lower device uncertainties. The equipment requirements of each N78xxxB ETMS calibration application are summarized in the Special Calibrations Matrix which can be found at http://cal.software.keysight.com.

  4. Option H99 is a special option for the Roseville Service Center [only] which provides electronic calibration data available as a .csv file that can be imported into TME thus avoiding manual entry. Option H99 must be requested from the Roseville Service Center upon re-calibration only of any previously purchased power sensor and not for new purchases of power sensors. This option may be ordered in addition to any other required or requested Std Lab Calibration option. Option H99 is recommended but not required.

The following models are not supported by Option H99:

    • E9304A-H18, H19, H84
    • E9300A-H25
    • N8386A
