This section lists the test equipment needed to run performance tests, adjustments, any critical specification requirements, and recommended model numbers. The required options will vary depending on the test to be performed. The computer and all test equipment are connected to the device under test (DUT) using GPIB.

In all test equipment configurations, cables and adapters must be properly torqued. Exceeding recommended torque values can cause damage to a cable or adapter, and can cause inaccurate test results.

  • All test equipment requires a 30 minute warmup period to ensure accurate performance.

  • The required model options for the test equipment are listed after the performance test or the equipment used. Alternate models, and equipment alternates for some tests, are also listed. Connection diagrams showing recommended and alternate test setups, where applicable, are provided in the test procedures.

  • The N5182BX07 requires the Extender Power Alignment procedure to be performed prior to running Performance Verification test plans. Refer to the N5182BX07 User's Guide for instructions on running the Extender Power Alignment. To access the User's Guide, go to Keysight support.

53230A Opt 106 or 115

53132A Opt 050 or 124
53131A1 Opt 050 or 124

  1. Use of the 53131A frequency counter results in larger measurement uncertainty. When the pass/fail decision guard bands the specification by the measurement uncertainty, the larger uncertainty increases the probability of a false reject – passing performance is incorrectly treated as failing. For this reason, the 53230A or 53132A frequency counters are strongly recommended in place of the 53131A.

N9030A analog demodulation application option requirements

To use the PXA N9030A with N9063EM0E analog demodulation measurement application functionality above 3.5 GHz, the N9030A must be upgraded with one of the following upgrade options: MTU or TES. After either upgrade, the N9030A must be re-calibrated for analog demodulation specifications above 3.5 GHz to be valid.

Choose from one of the following options:

  1. Option MTU — Multi-Touch User Interface

  2. Option TES — TOI Enhanced Specifications

Guidelines for Ordering Power Sensor Calibration Service

Use the following guidelines to ensure power sensors used by N78xxA applications receive the correct calibration service:

  1. Order Option 1A7 when ordering new power sensors that will be used as working standards in N7800A TME calibrations.

  2. When ordering periodic calibration for instruments used as lab standards in the N7800A software, we recommend using “Keysight Cal + Uncertainties + Guardbanding”. More information can be found at http://www.keysight.com/find/americas_cal.

  3. The N7800A software incorporates the ISO GUM Uncertainty in point-to-point uncertainty calculations. The special “H-series” calibration options (shown on the Special Calibrations Matrix located at http://cal.software.keysight.com) provide lower measurement uncertainties through use of direct comparison to devices directly characterized by NPL or NIST (or another NMI). The overall resulting N7800A measurement uncertainties then reflects these lower device uncertainties. The equipment requirements of each N7800A calibration application are summarized in the Special Calibrations Matrix which can be found at http://cal.software.keysight.com.

  4. Option H99 is a special option for the Roseville Service Center [only] which provides electronic calibration data available as a .csv file that can then be imported into TME, thus avoiding manual entry. Option H99 must be requested from the Roseville Service Center upon re-calibration only of any previously purchased power sensor. It is not available with new purchases of power sensors. This option may be ordered in addition to any other required or requested Std Lab Calibration option. Option H99 is recommended but not required.

The following models are not supported by Option H99:

    • E9304A-H18, H19, H84
    • E9300A-H25
    • N8386A
    • N8486AQ
