Query Syntax

:MEASure:JITTer:SMEThod?

Description

For the current data acquisition, this query returns the method used to separate any Bounded Uncorrelated Jitter (BUJ) from the Random Jitter (RJ), as shown in the Jitter Components Tree. The following list shows the two possible query responses:

SPECtral
The spectral method is the standard method that all FlexDCA versions previous to revision A.02.50 have used to decompose the jitter and interference components. This method is best used when no BUJ or BUI is known to be present on the signal. This is the default method used.
TFIT
The tail-fit method is exclusively used to separate the BUJ and BUI from the RJ and RN directly from the histogram. The TF annotation is displayed in the heading of the Jitter and Amplitude results table. Unless troubleshooting, do not use this method as it is less accurate than using AUTO or SPECtral.

Use the :MEASure:JITTer:DEFine:SMEThod command to specify the separation method used: AUTO, SPECtral, or TFIT (tail fit). When the AUTO method is selected, on each data acquisition cycle, both the spectral and tail-fit methods are used to separate the BUJ values from the RJ. The results are compared and, if they vary due to the presense of BUJ, the results of the tail-fit method are listed in the Jitter results table. Otherwise, the spectral method results are listed. Depending on the data acquired, this can change on each successive data acquisition. When the tail-fit method is used, the annotation TF is displayed on the heading of the Jitter results table. If the spectral method is used, no annotation is displayed. AUTO is the default method used.

Use the :MEASure:AMPLitude:SMEThod? query to return the current method used to separate any Bounded Uncorrelated Interference (BUI) from the Random Noise (RN).

Requires FlexDCA revision A.02.50 and above.
